Your Solutions ArchitectArchitecture - Security - Delivery

Most people who read this are not ready to hire anyone.

That is fine. The newsletter exists so that when you are - in six months, or two years - you already know how I think. One drawing, one thing worth re-deciding, and what I am seeing across the network.

Occasional, and worth the interruption.

Sent when there is something worth sending, which is not weekly. Every issue is archived here in full and readable without subscribing, so you can see exactly what you are agreeing to before you agree to it.

There is no mailing list yet, and that is deliberate rather than unfinished. Issues are published here and carried by the feed, which needs no address from you and no provider in the middle. If a list happens later it will run through an external provider; this site will still host no form and still never hold your address.

Worth subscribing if

  • You are the most technical person in the room and have no one to check your reasoning against
  • You own an architecture decision that will outlast your tenure
  • You want to know how someone outside your vendor relationships would scope it
  • You are not hiring anyone right now, and may never

A typical issue

Four things, and none of them are news.

Plenty of feeds tell you what happened. This one is about whether any of it changes a decision you already made.

One drawing

A reference architecture or a fragment of one, with the trade-off it encodes and where it falls over.

One decision to revisit

Something the industry assumed was settled that quietly stopped being true, and what I would change because of it.

One tool, used in anger

From the toolkit. What it is good at, what it is not, and the command that gets you past the first hour.

What I am seeing

Patterns across the network: what clients are hitting, what vendors are quietly changing, what is turning up in scoping calls.

The terms

What you are agreeing to.

Occasional, which means when there is something worth sending rather than on a schedule that forces filler. Every issue is archived here in full and readable without subscribing, so you can judge it before you hand over an address.

Subscription runs entirely through an external provider. This site hosts no form, holds no list and never sees your address. Unsubscribing is one click and I do not ask why.
